Fatal Stratford, New Jersey assault death of Frank Vitrano – Obituary
Authorities say a Christmas Day family dispute in South Jersey ended in the death of Frank Vitrano, a 72-year-old man who later succumbed to injuries sustained during an argument with his brother-in-law.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the confrontation took place at a home in Stratford, located roughly 10 miles southeast of Philadelphia. Investigators determined that Vitrano and 69-year-old John Meyers became involved in a heated exchange in the backyard of the residence.
During the argument, Meyers struck Vitrano in the head. Prosecutors said the blow was delivered after tensions escalated over a prior incident in which Vitrano had allegedly slapped Meyers’ wife. At the time, the injury did not appear life-threatening, and Vitrano did not immediately seek medical care.
Vitrano went to a hospital the following day as his condition worsened. He was later pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital on Dec. 27. An autopsy concluded that he died as a result of blunt force trauma.
The investigation remains under review as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation.
