Fatal New Haven car crash death of Marshall Curry – Obituary

Marshall Curry, a 13-year-old student from New Haven, was identified as the driver who lost his life in a deadly crash on Whalley Avenue early Sunday morning, according to city school officials.

Authorities said the crash also claimed the life of a female passenger who was riding in the vehicle. The passenger’s identity has not been released, but Mayor Justin Elicker stated during a press briefing that she was close in age to Curry.

Justin Harmon, a spokesperson for New Haven Public Schools, confirmed that Curry was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. He attended Wexler-Grant Community School, which enrolls students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Harmon explained that following such a devastating event, families connected to the school are notified about the loss of a student and provided guidance on how to talk with children about the tragedy. Counseling services have also been made available to both students and staff as the school community mourns the loss.
