Fatal Sampson County crash death of Olin Leonard Paul III – Obituary

Olin Leonard Paul III of Eastover was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Godwin, North Carolina, earlier this week, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The patrol reported that a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Paul was heading west on U.S. 13 near Sunny Lane around 10 a.m. Tuesday when it crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound 2025 International tractor-trailer. The collision forced the SUV off the road, where it struck a ditch and came to a halt. Paul was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The tractor-trailer ended up on the eastbound shoulder, and its driver sustained minor injuries before being taken to a hospital. Authorities confirmed that Paul’s next of kin have been notified. No charges have been filed related to the crash as of Thursday.
