Brent Hoquist, a 35-year-old resident of Corona, was identified as the motorcyclist who died Wednesday afternoon following a collision at the intersection of Gardner Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard in Woodcrest, California.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred just after 5 p.m. Hoquist was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Van Buren Boulevard at a high rate of speed when a Dodge SUV, driven by a 24-year-old woman from Riverside, turned left onto Gardner Avenue without seeing the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the right front of the SUV, causing Hoquist to be ejected from his bike.

Emergency responders, including Riverside County Fire Department paramedics and sheriff’s deputies, immediately began life-saving measures at the scene. Despite their efforts, Hoquist was pronounced dead at the location of the crash. The SUV driver was uninjured and was not arrested.

The intersection was partially closed for nearly two hours while authorities cleared the wreckage and conducted a preliminary investigation. Officials noted that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the collision.

The Riverside CHP continues to seek information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
