Fatal Sydney police pursuit crash death of Lidija Faamau – Obituary

Lidija Faamau, a 21-year-old medical student at Western Sydney University, has died a month after being critically injured in a crash during a police pursuit on December 10. Police reported that a 17-year-old boy, who was on bail at the time, was driving a stolen ute at speeds of up to 140 km/h when he ran a red light and collided with a BMW carrying Faamau and two friends on the Hume Highway in Sydney’s southwest.

Faamau spent several weeks in Liverpool Hospital fighting for her life. Her two friends involved in the crash have since been released. The teenage driver has been charged with eight offences and remains before the courts. Authorities are preparing a report for the Coroner.
