The crash occurred Wednesday at the intersection of 16th and L streets Northwest as Williams was crossing the road on his way to photograph a church-related assignment. Authorities said a suspect fleeing police at a high rate of speed collided with another vehicle, which then struck Williams and triggered a chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles.

Williams worked as a photojournalist for The Washington Informer, where coworkers described him as passionate, fearless, and committed to telling meaningful community stories through his lens. News of his death reportedly reached the newsroom during a routine meeting, leaving staff members shocked and emotionally shaken.
