William Gardner dies in fatal DC-295 pedestrian crash
Fatal DC-295 pedestrian crash death of William Gardner – Obituary
Authorities are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on the northbound lanes of DC-295 in Southeast Washington, D.C., on January 3, 2026. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident involved a pedestrian being struck by a black 2000 Chevy Silverado just before exit 1 at approximately 7:52 p.m.
Seventh District officers were quickly on the scene, and DC Fire and EMS attempted lifesaving efforts. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian, identified as 60-year-old William Gardner, was declared dead at the scene. Gardner was reported to have no fixed address. The driver of the Silverado remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
