A 68-year-old man, William Hess of Waterford, passed away after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a west Erie intersection on January 7. According to the Erie County Coroner’s Office, the incident led to severe injuries, resulting in his death the following day, January 8, at 2:31 p.m. at UPMC Hamot. Chief Deputy Coroner Nick Rekitt confirmed the cause of death was blunt-force trauma sustained in the pedestrian accident, with the manner of death being ruled accidental.
