Fatal Dallas hit-and-run death of Jonathan Rodriguez – Obituary
A tragic hit-and-run incident in Dallas has left 28-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez dead. Early Sunday morning, Rodriguez was struck by a black SUV on West Davis Street near Kittiwake Circle, just before 3 a.m. His family later identified him as the victim, and he died from severe injuries sustained during the accident.
Rodriguez had been out celebrating his birthday on the evening of January 11. Family members said he was attempting to cross the street near his home when the SUV hit him and fled the scene, heading west toward Loop 12. Surveillance footage shows Rodriguez standing near a median moments before the collision. After the accident, the family stated the vehicle likely has damage on the driver’s side, particularly the left taillight.
Despite the vehicle’s swift departure, a passing motorist stopped to provide assistance to Rodriguez until paramedics arrived. He was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to head trauma and a broken neck. His uncle, Frank Carrizales, described the loss as “unbelievable” and shared how hard it is for the family to cope.
Dallas police have not confirmed the make or model of the suspect vehicle, though the family believes it may be a black 2015-2020 Cadillac Escalade. They are offering a $10,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest.
