Fatal Surrey house fire death of Naseem Ali Mohammed – Obituary
A man known as Naseem Ali Mohammed, or “Lil Man,” was found dead in a burning house in Surrey on Monday, shortly after returning to Canada from the Middle East. Authorities believe Mohammed was shot before the house, located at 12732 56th Ave., was set on fire. Although the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) did not confirm his identity on Tuesday, multiple sources within law enforcement and the criminal underworld confirmed to Postmedia that Mohammed was the victim.
IHIT officials stated they believe the incident was targeted and may be linked to organized crime. Investigators are collaborating with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit to advance the investigation. A photograph reportedly showing Mohammed, bloodied from gunshot wounds, surfaced, further confirming his involvement in the tragedy.
The property, a $2.9 million house, was recently rented on a month-long lease. The owner, Bahadar Singh Sandhu, told Postmedia he had been approached by a realtor for the short-term rental. The house had been vacated by Sandhu’s family, but they agreed to the month-long lease after the realtor offered $10,000. Sandhu stated he never knew Mohammed was staying at the property and had no prior knowledge of his involvement.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
