Authorities with the Ohio State Highway Patrol have confirmed that Paul Creed, 37, lost his life following a motorcycle collision in Amelia on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators said the wreck occurred at approximately 4:13 p.m. along Chapel Road near the intersection with State Route 132. Creed was riding a 1994 BMW motorcycle traveling east when he attempted to overtake another vehicle.
During the passing maneuver, the motorcycle collided with a 2008 Saturn Astra that was moving westbound. The Saturn was being driven by a teenage motorist.
Troopers reported that Creed was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teen driver was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
