Fatal Cambridge, Massachusetts stabbing death of Antoine Johnson – Obituary

Antoine Johnson, 37, was killed after being stabbed during a fight at an apartment complex in Cambridge last week, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

The stabbing was reported shortly after 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 6 at an apartment complex on Norfolk Street. First responders arrived to find Johnson suffering from severe stab wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Prosecutors said the preliminary investigation shows Johnson and the suspect knew each other and became involved in a physical altercation that turned violent. Authorities allege that Victor Rivas, 51, of South Boston, stabbed Johnson during the fight. Rivas was also injured in the incident.

Rivas was arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Jan. 9 and pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury. As of Wednesday, the charge had not been upgraded. Court records indicate Rivas was released on bail under special conditions, including a curfew.

Investigators have not released additional details about what led up to the confrontation. The case remains under investigation by the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
