Deandre Salazer, 16, was shot and killed on January 5 in Carrollton after an attempted robbery involving multiple teens, according to police. Deandre Salazer was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital following the confrontation.
Authorities reported that Carrollton police received a call shortly after 7 p.m. regarding a weapons-related incident in the 2200 block of Heads Lane. Officers learned that Salazer had been shot and later confirmed his death at the hospital.
Investigators said the incident involved two vehicles: one carrying Salazer and four other teenagers, and another driven by a 20-year-old Carrollton resident. Police stated the group of teens met the man under the pretense of selling illegal substances, intending to commit a robbery. During the encounter, Salazer reportedly brandished a firearm, prompting the 20-year-old to act in self-defense.
The four other teenagers with Salazer were charged with aggravated robbery, while the 20-year-old involved has not been charged. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner confirmed Salazer’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
