Fatal Memphis, Tennessee car crash death of Kevyon Jackson – Obituary
Kevyon Jackson was killed after a vehicle crash involving a law enforcement pursuit in the Raleigh area of Memphis, his family confirmed. The deadly collision occurred at the intersection of James Road and Warford Street.
According to information released by the U.S. Marshals Service Safe Task Force, officers attempted to stop Jackson in the 3100 block of Madewell in the Frayser neighborhood. Authorities said Jackson fled, leading officers on a pursuit that lasted approximately five miles before ending in a violent crash.
Investigators stated that Jackson’s vehicle struck a box truck at the James Road and Warford Street intersection. The impact caused both vehicles to flip multiple times, resulting in fatal injuries to Jackson.
Jackson’s aunt, Britney Clements, said the family is devastated by his death and disputes claims that he was a dangerous individual. She said Jackson was on the phone with family members during the pursuit, moments before the crash occurred.
Federal authorities indicated Jackson previously had warrants related to aggravated assault. However, family members provided documentation showing those charges had been expunged. A review of Shelby County records did not show any active warrants at the time of the incident, though an older warrant from the previous year indicated Jackson had already been jailed with no further court action taken.
The incident remains under scrutiny as Jackson’s family questions the actions of the task force involved in the pursuit.
