Krystal Haro, 38, was identified by family members after her body was discovered buried in a shallow grave in the remote desert near Helendale, California. Her sister, Ashley Haro, shared the news through a GoFundMe campaign titled “Honoring the Life of Krystal Haro,” set up to help cover funeral and memorial costs following the tragic loss.
The discovery occurred on the morning of Sunday, January 11, 2026, in a desert area east of U.S. Highway 395 and north of Buckthorne Canyon Road. A driver passing along Buckthorne Canyon Road initially thought they saw a mannequin, but upon closer inspection realized it was a human body and contacted authorities.
Deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene and requested homicide detectives for assistance. Investigators confirmed that Haro had been buried in a shallow grave. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is treating her death as a homicide and continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding it.
