Fatal Tucson, Arizona car crash death of Rebecca Gonzales – Obituary

Rebecca Gonzales, 34, was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on the southwest side of Tucson, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. The fatal incident occurred last week near the area west of Casino Del Sol.

Deputies from the San Xavier District responded to the scene around 8 p.m. on Jan. 9 after receiving reports of a pedestrian-involved crash west of Valencia Road. Investigators said Gonzales was standing in the roadway at the time and was wearing dark clothing without reflective material.

Authorities stated that a westbound vehicle was unable to avoid Gonzales and struck her. A second vehicle traveling behind the first also hit her moments later. Both drivers immediately called 9-1-1, stayed at the scene, and attempted to render aid, but Gonzales was pronounced dead at the location.

PCSD also believes a third vehicle, described as a lifted truck with large chrome wheels, may have struck Gonzales and left the scene without stopping. Investigators noted that speed and impairment were not contributing factors for the two drivers who remained on site. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
