Ty William Richardson, 26, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, was killed early Tuesday morning in a shooting incident at his residence, authorities reported.

Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to a 911 call reporting the shooting and found Richardson suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10:15 a.m. Investigators say the man who called authorities admitted to accidentally shooting Richardson while the two were reportedly playing with a firearm.

Police confirmed that the individuals had been close friends for nearly 15 years and lived together at the property where the incident occurred. The person responsible was arrested and faces a charge of manslaughter. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Fernandina Beach Police Department.
