Fatal Louisiana shooting death of Kassidy Jackson – Obituary
Kassidy Jackson, an 18-year-old woman from Louisiana, died after being shot inside her home following a confrontation that authorities say stemmed from a dispute on social media.
According to Baton Rouge police and court documents, officers were called to Jackson’s residence around 2 p.m. on January 8 after reports of a shooting. Jackson was found critically injured and was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her wounds.
Investigators identified 19-year-old Paulasia Banks as the suspect. Police say Banks went to Jackson’s home to confront her over being blocked on TikTok and arrived accompanied by two men who have not been publicly identified. Authorities allege the group forced their way into the home after Jackson answered the door.
Police reports indicate that Banks questioned Jackson about the social media block and accused her of ignoring calls, leading to a heated argument that turned physical. An unidentified woman inside the home told investigators she stepped away briefly to check on a child and then heard gunshots. When she returned, Jackson was found on the floor suffering from gunshot wounds.
After the shooting, Banks and the two men fled the scene. Banks later turned herself in to authorities. Investigators noted inconsistencies in her statements, including a claim that she fired shots through the door after being forced out, unintentionally hitting Jackson. Banks also told police she and Jackson had been romantically involved, a claim disputed by the witness.
Banks has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond. Police have not announced whether additional suspects will face charges, and the investigation remains ongoing as the case continues to draw widespread attention within the community.
