Miguel Aguirre, 33, of Apple Valley, was killed in a head-on collision on National Trails Highway, authorities confirmed. His death was verified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office following the crash.

The accident occurred on the night of September 8, 2019, just north of the I-15 freeway near the cement plant. Aguirre’s red Ford Flex was struck directly by a southbound Nissan Armada driven by 45-year-old Kenya Williams of Las Vegas.

Emergency crews responded quickly, but Aguirre was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:58 p.m. Williams was airlifted to a trauma center and is expected to recover fully. A passenger in Aguirre’s vehicle also sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a trauma center for treatment.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role and are working to determine why the Nissan entered the opposing lane.
