Fatal Salem, Oregon motorcycle crash death of Sean Elliott Mobley – Obituary

Sean Elliott Mobley, 37, was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle collision in south Salem, marking the first fatal crash of 2026 within the city, authorities confirmed.

Police reported the incident occurred at 10:03 a.m. on January 15 at the intersection of Hines Street SE and 18th Street SE. Mobley was riding a 2018 Honda motorcycle westbound on Hines Street when he attempted to pass a Honda SUV. Both vehicles had recently turned onto Hines Street from Commercial Street SE.

The SUV driver, 28, turned left onto 18th Street SE as Mobley accelerated, resulting in the collision. Mobley was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver remained at the location and cooperated fully with investigators.

No arrests or citations have been issued at this time. Local authorities temporarily closed portions of Hines Street and 18th Street SE to manage the crash scene and clear debris, reopening the roads by 12:20 p.m.

Salem Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
