Terrence Tyrone Rucker, 49, of Jackson, was found dead from a gunshot wound as police investigated a fatal shooting on the city’s west side, authorities confirmed.

The incident was reported on January 14, 2026, in the 400 block of Wilshire Avenue. Jackson police officers responded to the scene and discovered Rucker deceased.

According to Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, investigators determined that Rucker and another man, believed to be in his 60s, were involved in an argument prior to the shooting. The dispute reportedly escalated, leading to gunfire.
