Hector Lionel Alfaro, his wife, and their teenage daughter were identified as the three people killed in a shooting inside their Lakewood home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials said Alfaro was 52 years old, his wife was 48, and their youngest child was a 17-year-old girl. Investigators confirmed all three family members died from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Lorelei Avenue near South Street around 8 a.m. Thursday after a caller reported an assault involving a deadly weapon. When law enforcement arrived, they encountered a 19-year-old woman running from the home.

The woman, later identified as Alfaro’s eldest daughter, told deputies that her father had fired a gun at her. Authorities said she was not injured during the incident.

Inside the home, deputies found Alfaro on the floor of the den with a gunshot wound. His wife and youngest daughter were discovered in separate bedrooms, each suffering from similar injuries.

Investigators stated the 19-year-old told them she awoke to the sound of gunfire and that her father entered her bedroom and discharged a handgun multiple times before leaving.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, according to the sheriff’s department. Officials said there was no suspect at large and no ongoing danger to the public following the incident.

A woman was detained in connection with the investigation as detectives continued working to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting.
