Fatal Pottawattamie County, Iowa crash death of Mark Douglas Hayden – Obituary
Mark Douglas Hayden, 56, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was killed on January 16, 2026, after losing control of his semi-truck on Interstate 80 in Pottawattamie County.
Witnesses reported that strong winds caused the westbound truck to tip onto its driver’s side in the median, striking a cable barrier near mile marker 12 just outside Council Bluffs.
Hayden was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to a funeral home. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
