Matthew Downing, a 26-year-old man from Collinsville, Oklahoma, has died following a traffic collision involving a semi truck in Oologah, according to updated information released by authorities.

The crash happened Thursday morning before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Old U.S. 169 and South 4070 Road. Officials said Downing was driving an SUV when it struck the rear of a large commercial truck.

Investigators with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that the truck had stopped at the intersection to allow another vehicle to make a right turn. The SUV driver did not notice the truck was stopped and crashed into it.

Downing was initially transported from the scene in serious condition but later died from his injuries a short time after the collision.

The driver of the big rig was not hurt in the crash. Authorities continue to document the incident, and no additional details were released at the time of the update.
