Ted Amber, 87, and his wife Sharon Amber, 86, both from Clovis, were killed in a head-on collision north of Fresno on Friday morning, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed.

The couple was driving along Auberry Road when a Dodge Durango, operated by 21-year-old Lazaro Hernandez, crossed into their lane and struck their vehicle head-on. First responders pronounced both Ted and Sharon Amber dead at the scene.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. While a Drug Recognition Expert determined he was not impaired, authorities noted that marijuana and its odor were present inside his vehicle.
