Sharon Thomas, a 56-year-old woman from Caldwell, New Jersey, tragically died after being struck by a vehicle on the evening of January 16. Authorities confirmed her identity after the fatal accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue.

Caldwell police arrived at the scene after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. They found Thomas unconscious in the roadway and transported her to Mountainside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m.

Witnesses reported that Thomas had just exited an NJ Transit bus and was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle. The driver initially stopped, observed Thomas lying in the road, then returned to the vehicle and fled the scene. A second vehicle also struck Thomas while she was still in the roadway, but the driver of that vehicle remained at the scene.
