Fatal Fresno County, California collision death of Ted and Sharon Amber – Obituary

Ted Amber, 87, and his wife Sharon Amber, 86, both from Clovis, California, were killed in a head-on collision in Fresno County on Friday morning. Authorities confirmed their identities after the tragic accident occurred in the foothills.

The crash, which was reported at 11:30 a.m., involved a Kia Soul driven by the Amblers and a Dodge Durango traveling northbound on Auberry Road. The Durango crossed the center line, striking the couple’s vehicle in the southbound lanes of Waterbury Road.

Both Ted and Sharon Amber were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The 21-year-old driver of the Durango, Lazaro Hernandez of Clovis, was uninjured and is cooperating with authorities. Despite no evidence of alcohol or drug impairment, witness statements and physical evidence led to his arrest. Hernandez was booked into the Fresno County jail and charged with two counts of felony gross vehicular manslaughter.

Although marijuana was detected inside the vehicle, a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation ruled out impairment. The incident is still under investigation by the CHP.
