William Abner Jr., a 30-year-old man from New Lebanon, Ohio, was killed in a serious traffic collision Friday night in Miami Township. Authorities confirmed he died at the scene following the crash.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Dayton Post, emergency crews were dispatched around 9:19 p.m. to Interstate 75 southbound near the State Route 725 exit ramp. Investigators said Abner was driving a 2024 Honda CR-V when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway.

The SUV entered a grassy area and struck an overhead light pole, causing fatal damage. Troopers indicated that speed is believed to have played a role in the crash.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Miamisburg Police Department, Miami Township Police Department, Miami Valley Fire District, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, and Englewood Towing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash.
