Alicia Machnik dies in fatal Milwaukee motel shooting
Fatal Milwaukee motel shooting death of Alicia Machnik – Obituary
Alicia Machnik, 29, a mother of two, was killed on January 14 after being shot at a northwest-side Milwaukee motel. Authorities have charged her husband, Lance White, 29, with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with her death.
Milwaukee police responded to the Port Motel on Appleton Avenue after Machnik was found unresponsive in her room with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers discovered a bullet casing and an intact bullet with apparent blood, as well as personal items belonging to White, including his birth certificate and social security card.
Surveillance footage showed Machnik and White checking into the motel on January 12. On the morning of the shooting, a motel cleaner reported seeing Machnik answer the door, saying she would extend her stay. Later that afternoon, the cleaner returned to find her dead. Video confirmed White leaving the room shortly after the cleaner had visited, with no other individuals entering or exiting until police arrived.
White and Machnik had been married for about a year. In statements to police, White admitted to shooting Machnik after she allegedly asked him to, claiming it was related to a threat from her child’s father. White said he then discarded the gun in a sewer and fled to another motel, where he was later arrested at a nearby hospital.
Investigators continue to review the case as legal proceedings move forward.
