Fatal North Charleston, South Carolina hit-and-run death of Jose N. Gonzalez-Cervera – Obituary

Jose N. Gonzalez-Cervera, 45, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Rivers Avenue near Hawthorne Drive in North Charleston on January 1, authorities reported. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed he died from blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:46 p.m. when an unknown vehicle struck Gonzalez-Cervera and fled the scene. North Charleston police later arrested Jacob Montgomery Kaul in connection with the crash. Kaul faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
