Fatal Santa Maria hit-and-run death of Ramon Maldonado – Obituary

Ramon Maldonado, 48, of Santa Maria, was killed Sunday evening after being struck from behind while riding his bicycle. Police said officers found Maldonado on the side of Blosser Road near Church Street around 8:40 p.m., with his bicycle badly damaged.

Responding officers provided medical assistance until an ambulance from American Medical Response arrived, and Maldonado was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators from the Santa Maria Traffic Unit and Crime Lab believe the suspect vehicle is a gray SUV or van, likely with front-end damage, based on evidence collected at the scene.
