Authorities in Dunkirk have released the identity of the person who lost his life following a collision between a vehicle and a train on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the CSX railroad crossing on Middle Road. A vehicle was struck by an oncoming train, resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

The victim was identified as Adolf Herdzik Jr., 77. Emergency responders transported Herdzik to Brooks Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
