Fatal Freedom, Wyoming shooting deaths of Christopher Moon and Cassandra Moon – Obituary
Christopher Moon, 43, and his wife, Cassandra Moon, 23, were found dead Wednesday morning following a domestic shooting incident near Freedom, Wyoming. Authorities say the incident occurred along Jack Knife Creek Road in southeast Bonneville County, less than a mile from the Wyoming border.
According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 8:06 a.m. from Christopher Moon, who reported that he had shot his wife. During the call, he also stated that he was armed and intended to take his own life.
Sheriff’s deputies, along with a SWAT team, responded to the area with assistance from the Lincoln County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office and Star Valley Ambulance. Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles parked along the roadway belonging to Christopher and Cassandra Moon.
Authorities briefly communicated with Christopher by phone in an attempt to persuade him to surrender. Investigators say he later used the firearm on himself. Deputies then approached the vehicles and discovered both Christopher and Cassandra deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Officials confirmed there were no other individuals at the scene and no additional injuries reported. Law enforcement personnel remained on site for several hours to process evidence, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
