Fatal Riverdale, Georgia shooting death of Jamal Alvin Payne – Obituary

Jamal Alvin Payne, 44, of Riverdale, Georgia, was fatally shot Wednesday evening inside his pickup truck at the Emerald Pointe Apartments on Roberts Drive, authorities confirmed.

Riverdale police responded to a report of gunfire shortly before discovering Payne deceased in the vehicle. Witnesses told officers they saw two individuals flee the scene — one wearing a white hoodie and the other in a colorful polka-dot jacket. Despite a search of the area, police were unable to apprehend any suspects at the time.

Payne was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by the Clayton County Medical Examiner. Family members described him as a devoted father and husband. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and Riverdale authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
