Fatal Kershaw County, South Carolina industrial accident death of Sheldon Moree – Obituary

Authorities have identified the man who died following a well drilling incident in the Bethune area as Sheldon Moree, 25, from Chesterfield.

The Kershaw County Coroner’s Office reported that emergency services received a 911 call around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, regarding an electrocution during an industrial well drilling operation. Moree was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation by the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office in coordination with OSHA.
