Chez Johnson, 31, from Maryland, tragically died while visiting Cancun, Mexico, for a destination wedding. Johnson, who was staying at the Riu Caribe Hotel, was reportedly found dead after falling from a balcony at the resort on January 16, 2026, just a day after arriving for the wedding. His mother, Yulanda Williams, was devastated when she received a call informing her of the incident and is now seeking answers about her son’s mysterious death.

Johnson, who had recently graduated from Baltimore City Community College and was known for his love of fashion and travel, had been in contact with his family before the trip. Williams described him as a “character” who was close to her, adding that they shared a love for seafood and traveling together. Despite reaching out to local authorities and the hotel for details, Williams has received conflicting reports about the circumstances surrounding his death. No police investigation has been initiated by Mexican authorities as of yet, and the family is struggling to get his body returned to the U.S.
