Los Angeles authorities confirmed that David Veneroso Rodriguez, 36, was killed during an attempted robbery in the Winnetka neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.

The incident unfolded around 4:10 p.m. in the 20400 block of Sherman Way. According to police, Rodriguez approached a 31-year-old man in an alley and attempted to rob him, firing shots in the process. The victim wrestled the gun away and fired a shot that struck Rodriguez.

Paramedics transported Rodriguez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The alleged victim was later taken into police custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
