Fatal Maine, Bangor plane crash death of Tara Arnold – Obituary
Tara Arnold, 46, of Houston, was among six people who lost their lives when a private jet overturned and caught fire moments after departing Bangor International Airport in Maine on Sunday, January 25. Tara Arnold, an attorney and event professional, was traveling on a business flight bound for Paris when the aircraft went down shortly after takeoff.
Authorities later identified Jacob Hosmer, 47, also of Houston, as the pilot who was killed in the crash. His father confirmed his death to local media, and professional records show Hosmer had joined the Arnold & Itkin team as a pilot in May 2025. Shawna Collins, an event planner, was also confirmed as one of the victims, according to her daughter, who told reporters the group was heading to Europe for work-related purposes. Three additional passengers who were on board the jet have not yet been publicly named.
The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the aircraft involved was a Bombardier Challenger 600, which went down at approximately 7:45 p.m. local time during its takeoff roll. Bangor police said the crash involved a single plane leaving the airport and that emergency crews remained on scene for several hours into the night as they worked through the aftermath.
At the time of the incident, Maine was experiencing severe winter weather, including below-freezing temperatures, snowfall, and poor visibility caused by a powerful snowstorm moving through the Northeast. Following the crash, Bangor International Airport was temporarily closed Sunday night.
Federal records indicate the jet was registered to a Houston-based limited liability company. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash as
