Fatal Sharon, Vermont camper fire death of Brett Novak – Obituary
Authorities have identified the man who died in a camper fire Sunday morning in Sharon, Vermont as 58-year-old Brett Novak. Novak was found deceased inside the trailer after emergency crews extinguished the blaze.
State police reported that multiple 911 calls were received shortly after 10 a.m., alerting authorities to black smoke coming from a camper at 4573 Vermont Route 14. Sharon fire crews responded to the scene and discovered Novak inside.
The Vermont Department of Public Safety’s fire and explosion investigation unit, working alongside state police detectives, indicated that preliminary findings suggest the fire was accidental and likely related to smoking materials. Officials do not consider the incident suspicious at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate and ask anyone with information about the fire to contact Detective Trooper Eric Acevedo at the Westminster Barracks or Detective Sergeant Christopher Blais at the Royalton Barracks.
