Fatal Peoria, Illinois shooting death of Davelle M. Wilder – Obituary

Davelle M. Wilder, 44, lost his life following a shooting that occurred early Wednesday, Jan. 28, along Harmon Highway in Peoria. Authorities say the incident also left a woman injured.

According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, Wilder was rushed to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center after being found unresponsive, without a pulse, and not breathing. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 3:36 a.m.

An autopsy later revealed that Wilder suffered multiple gunshot wounds across his body. Harwood stated that the injuries were fatal and caused his death almost immediately.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to a home in the 3400 block of Harmon Highway around 3:06 a.m. after receiving reports that two people had been shot. When deputies arrived, they located a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg and a man with at least one gunshot injury.

Deputies applied a tourniquet to the woman’s leg before she was transported to a nearby hospital. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Wilder was also taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the individuals responsible left the area before law enforcement arrived. At this time, no arrests have been made. Detectives indicated the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
