Authorities have identified the victims of a tragic murder-suicide in Rancho Cordova on Tuesday, January 27, which claimed four lives, including two children. The shooter, 58-year-old David Vallerga, and three others—his wife, Lindsey Peralta Vallerga, a 49-year-old woman, and their 13-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter—were all found dead inside their home.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s officials said responding officers arrived at the 5400 block of Mill Water Circle in the Kavala Ranch neighborhood after Vallerga called 911 around 8:30 a.m., admitting he was the shooter and claiming he had set booby traps in the home. Officers evacuated nearby residents and secured the scene.
A SWAT team used an armored vehicle and aerial drone to safely enter the home, where all four victims were discovered with gunshot wounds. Investigators recovered two pistols believed to have been used in the shootings, along with 14 other firearms throughout the residence. No explosives or traps were found.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances and motive behind this devastating incident that claimed the lives of the entire family.
