Fatal Marshall County, Alabama shooting death of Gary Jerome Jordan – Obituary
Authorities have released the identity of the man who was killed during a law enforcement shooting in Marshall County on Sunday, January 18. The victim has been confirmed as 58-year-old Gary Jerome Jordan, a resident of Guntersville, who was declared dead at the scene.
According to officials, deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Guntersville Police Department were called to a home on Meadowbrook Drive, close to the Blount County line along Highway 79 South, in response to a domestic-related situation.
Investigators say Jordan was armed and discharged a firearm in the direction of responding deputies and officers. Law enforcement personnel then returned fire, striking Jordan and resulting in his death.
No law enforcement officers or deputies were hurt during the encounter.
The incident remains under active investigation, and officials have stated that additional details will be released once the review is complete. When the investigation concludes, the case findings will be forwarded to the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office for further evaluation.
