Grace Brito, 16, of Frisco, died following a sledding accident that also claimed the life of her best friend, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Angle, 16.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon when a 16-year-old boy was pulling the two girls on a sled with a Jeep Wrangler through a neighborhood. Witnesses said the sled struck a curb and collided with a tree, leaving both teenagers with life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures before transporting them to the hospital, where both girls later died.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not involved, and the investigation, conducted with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, is ongoing. Police urged the community to exercise caution in winter conditions, noting the serious risks posed by snow and ice.
