Authorities have identified a 62-year-old man who froze to death during a recent winter storm in Pulaski County as James L. Phillips of the Bend of the Lakes area. Phillips was one of 11 victims reported by state officials following the extreme cold event.

Pulaski County coroner Clyde Strunk said first responders were called around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday to check on Phillips near Bend of the Lakes Road. Debris from fallen trees and power lines blocked access to his camper trailer, delaying emergency assistance. The trailer was reported to be in poor condition, with interior temperatures no higher than the frigid outdoor environment.

Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding Phillips’ death as part of the broader assessment of storm-related fatalities in the region.
