Sergio Lopez, 65, was killed Monday afternoon after a shooting at a commercial plaza in Vaughn, according to police. Officers were responding to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Wingus and Roundtree Dairy roads when they learned Lopez had been shot.

Investigators said Lopez was gunned down during the daytime incident, which authorities believe was a targeted attack. While officers were still at the shooting scene, a separate call came in reporting a black SUV on fire near Kipling and Woodbridge Avenue.

Police determined the burned SUV matched the description of a vehicle believed to have fled the area following the shooting. No one was found inside the vehicle when officers arrived.

At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody. The investigation remains active, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information related to the shooting or the burned vehicle to contact police.
