Fatal Ardmore, Oklahoma car crash death of Candelario Salinas – Obituary
A late-night police chase that started in Love County ended in tragedy when 35-year-old Candelario Salinas of Columbus, Nebraska, lost his life in a crash in Ardmore early Saturday morning.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the pursuit concluded around 12:51 a.m. near a railroad crossing operated by BNSF Railway, roughly 462 feet west of Holiday Drive in Carter County.
Troopers reported that Salinas had been attempting to evade deputies from Love County and continued driving after entering the Ardmore city limits. During the pursuit, investigators say he traveled through a grassy stretch between Interstate 35 and Holiday Drive before crossing a ravine, passing over railway tracks, and crashing into an embankment on the opposite side. The vehicle ultimately stopped just west of Holiday Drive.
Authorities stated that Salinas was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was thrown from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene. Officials confirmed that his family has been informed.
No other occupants were inside the vehicle, and no additional injuries were reported. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and crash.
