Fatal Thermal, California shooting death of Oscar Romero Castro – Obituary
A double homicide in Thermal left two men dead, including 50-year-old Oscar Romero Castro, after deputies responded to a home in the 67000 block of Polk Street late on Feb. 11.
The Thermal Sheriff’s Station reported that officers arrived shortly after 11:30 p.m. and found Romero Castro and another 47-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the 47-year-old victim has been withheld pending family notification.
Investigators identified 43-year-old Alberto Tomas Padron of Mecca as the suspect. He initially fled the scene but was later located on the 91000 block of 3rd Street in Mecca with assistance from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team. Padron was taken into custody and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on murder charges.
Authorities have not released details regarding a motive or the relationship between Padron and the victims. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Investigator Joshua Manjarrez or Investigator Burgie with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
