Nicholas Kenworthy dies in fatal Truckee skiing accident

Fatal Truckee skiing accident death of Nicholas Kenworthy – Obituary

Nicholas Kenworthy, 26, has been identified as the skier who died last week in a tragic accident at Northstar Resort near Lake Tahoe. The incident occurred on February 6 on the Martis Trail, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Ski patrol initially responded to reports of an injured skier and transferred care to the Truckee Fire Department, where Kenworthy was pronounced dead. Officials have not released further details regarding how the accident happened.

The Martis Trail is classified as a Black Diamond run, the most challenging level of terrain at Northstar, intended for highly experienced skiers.

Kenworthy, a 2021 graduate of New York University with studies in theater and politics, earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 2024. At the time of his death, he was serving as a law clerk at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
