Fatal Jacksonville shooting death of Marcquila Harris – Obituary

Marcquila Harris, 31, lost her life following a shooting that took place Saturday evening in Jacksonville, according to local authorities. The Morgan County Coroner’s Office confirmed she passed away at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital after being transported there with critical injuries.

 

Police were dispatched around 5:42 p.m. to the 800 block of West Chambers Street after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered Harris suffering from a severe gunshot wound that posed an immediate threat to her life.

 

Emergency responders rushed her to the hospital in an effort to save her, but despite medical intervention, she later died from her injuries. Officials stated that an autopsy was scheduled as part of the investigation.

 

Authorities have not yet shared further details about what led to the shooting. Investigators currently believe the incident was isolated, and no additional information about suspects or circumstances has been released.

 

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who may have information about the case to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing. Harris’s death has left the community mourning as police continue working to determine what happened.
