Authorities in Suffolk County have confirmed that human remains discovered in a wooded section of Manorville belong to Kathleen Harrison Trent, a 63-year-old woman who had been reported missing earlier this year.

Trent, a mother and grandmother, was last seen on January 29 at her residence on Forge Road in Riverhead. Concern grew after her son notified police when he could no longer reach her.

During an organized search effort, officers combed through a wooded area along Connecticut Avenue, south of River Road, and located a body on Wednesday afternoon. The discovery immediately raised suspicions, and investigators began treating the case as a homicide.
